Well, Weekly escape #2 never happened, unless you call nearly falling asleep at the dentist after a Night shift an escape, LOL.
Weekly escape #3 turned out to be a morning of mini-golf, go-carts, and bumper boats with DS. Fun. Only a few days to figure out a "monthly experience" during June...
This self-care is harder than I thought to make happen.

Intentional Changes
This blog is a bit of an experiment. Part journal, part reflections. In my previous post I implied I'd chronicle something new in my life every week. It didn't quite turn out that way. Had a new insight from another blog about some intentional changes I want to make in my life...
I think these will impact me in unexpected ways:
I think these will impact me in unexpected ways:
- a weekly escape
- a monthly experience
- a yearly extravaganza
But of course... doing this deliberately turns "savoring life" into reality instead of just wishing it.
I'll attempt to share what I discover.
And all to an exponential level when shared.

All New in 2010 Week 1
So here in week #1, I've got the idea for my first book (non-fiction) and am starting to write it. I've treated myself to a new macbook laptop for some motivation. And I've the idea for book #2 (fiction) perculating. So, week #2, I'm a writer for the first time (I guess I'm not allowed to call myself a writer until it is published and sold...) and a macbook owner.
Ah, and I also joined a "Run 400 km in 2010" challenge. Follow my progress at www.dailymile.com as inspired by the running the distance podcast. And for the first time in my life (i think), I've run my longest distance at 4 miles [1]. Slow pace (12.28), but I did it!
Also new this week, I've purchased and successfully installed a wireless router...something else i've never done!
Ryan & I had our skating lesson...so theoretically, I now know how to stop, skate backwards [2], glide on two skates and glide on one skate.

All new in 2010
So here I am in mid-life: 47. 2010 shall be a year of new beginnings for me. I want to try to do one new thing I've never done before each week this year. Let's see how I do.
Starting off... January 1, 2010, I dusted off my iceskates from my last skating attempt (c. 199?) and took my son Ryan, 9, out for his first time iceskating. We both survived and I've signed us both up for skating lessons with the City of Winnipeg Leisure Guide. My goal this year is to skate Winnipeg's River Trail, the longest ice skating trail in the world.
